Hello Everyone,
Sorry this has taken a while to get out (yet again) but as
per usual it’s been crazy busy. Training has been going
quite well though, despite having to adjust to being a little
drained from work at the end of each day. I think I’ve
logged more miles on the bike in the last few weeks than I
ever have before, meanwhile the long running miles over the
winter are paying dividends now and my swim, while nothing
special (still) seems to be no worse off that it was last
year. Meaning? Hopefully a very strong season. Last year was
good, but I think with the increased mileage and strength
from the winter I can podium place in every race I do.
Having said that, it is after a long winter
of contemplation that I have decided not to make the trip
to Hawaii for Worlds (unless of course there’s a significant
cash windfall in my near future). It’s unfortunate that
the opportunity to compete at this race has come at such a
bad time, but financially it’s almost impossible and
it comes in the middle of midterm season at school. This has
been extremely hard for me, especially since that’s
kind of where I was aiming all winter with my training, and
this has now left me a little unfocused for the upcoming season.
But, I think with the schedule of races I’ve
decided on at this point I should wind up with a lot of fun
races on fun courses and maybe even some more outright wins.
I’ve also decided on two Provincial Championship races
so that while I won’t be able to compete for a World
Title, I can at least compete for a Provincial Title. Here’s
the proposed race schedule at this point up to August:
Jun
3-5- Healthy Results Lake Placid Training Camp- not
a race but the first big event of the year
June 18- Muskoka Triathlon
(Trisport Canada)- Sprint Tri (4th in 2004)
July 3- Mike Burwell Triathlon
(Multisport Canada)- Provincial Sprint Triathlon Championships
July 10- Midland Triathlon
(3rd in 2004)
July 17- Toronto Waterfront
Triathlon (Multisport Canada)
August 7- Barrie Triathlon
(Defending last years First place)
August 14- Cobourgh Duathlon
(Multisport Canada)- Provincial Duathlon Championships
August 27- Parry Sound Triathlon
(Multisport Canada)- 3rd in 2004
I’ll try and stop in to see everyone
with a sponsorship proposal for this year in the next week
or so (that may be a little longer for those out of town I’m
afraid). In the meantime, I’ve included the only picture
I have from this year, which was taken last week at time trials
with the Midland Tri club (en route to fastest lap of the
day), and also my personal favourite taken last year at the
Barrie Triathlon (en route to a 2 minute victory!- sweet action
shot).
All the Best,
Alex
